Just when I thought I was done...

Since walking across the stage in my favorite shoes, people have mainly asked me one question- How does it feel to be done?

I wish I knew. In all honesty, the end of this school year doesn’t feel any different than the end of last school year. Since I’m spending my summer at camp, I don’t think it will really hit me until I don’t go back to Valpo in August. Plus, I’m still studying.

One of the “joys” of nursing school is that it’s not over when you get your diploma. People also ask me how it feels to be a nurse, which I can’t really answer since I’m not a nurse yet. Instead, I’m in this weird holding pattern where I have a nursing degree, but am not actually an RN. That suffix to my name comes when I pass the NCLEX-RN, which I still have to take. I can’t register for a time until I get approved for a license, and since I sent all of that stuff in this week, now I just have to wait for the okay (or the ATT for you fellow nursing students out there). Until then, I’m still studying.

And that looks like this:

(reading practice questions, trying to decide on the right answer,

having no idea what it’s asking, how many more of these do I have to do?)

We’ve been told that the best way to study is to go over practice questions, so that’s what I’m doing. So I’m finally putting to use the review book I bought in January, as well as the flashcards and Kaplan’s “Medications you NEED to know for the exam” I added to the study collection this week. I’m also investigating audio study guides for the drive west I’ll be making in about a week and a half.

Don’t worry though, I’m not spending ALL of my time studying- there’s plenty of sleeping, tv watching, Glee singing, dog walking etc going on as well.

Goal for today? 100 questions. 30 down, 70 to go. Better get back to it.
