Free Time... I think that's what they call it.

I know what you’re thinking. What on earth does Vickie do with all of those days she doesn’t work? (You might also be thinking “What on earth does Vickie do when she does work?” but I’m saving that for another post. Or probably a few more posts.) Anyway, one of the joys of working 12 hour shifts is that I only work 3-4 of them a week, which means I have 3-4 days a week where I’m not working.

Lately, I’ve spent those days traveling- between Valpo for graduation, California for the Lompoc service, and Cleveland this last weekend for a friend’s wedding, it feels like I haven’t had much of a break at all, but this week I have a few more days off, and no where to go.

So today I…

Slept in.
Spent way too much time on facebook and blogstalking.
Put together and shipped off a care package to a group of people I love in a place I love.
Wondered why there are always so many people at the Fell’s Point post office in the middle of the day. You can’t all be hospital workers…
Stopped at Starbucks to give myself a little extra motivation for the task ahead of me.
Cleaned my room. Because it needed it. Badly.

Ate home made Chex Mix all day long.
Did laundry.
Thought about what I would have written in this year's Father's Day card.
Took a few breaks to check out my new favorite website, which brings out the little kid in me.
Wrote letters, cards and emails to people I love.
Regretted using my hands to stir the homemade chex mix, since my hands smell and taste like garlic all. The. Time.
Tackled one of the projects I’ve been looking forward to for a while...

So to answer your question- I didn’t do a whole lot, and I loved every second of it. I had planned on going to the gym and down to the pool, but I slept too late, and it wasn’t quite warm enough. My apartment is starting to feel like home, which is nice.

  1. Well, you picked one of the most attractive pictures of me in existence for your wall. Wouldn't expect anything less.
