Tour de Littles
A few weeks ago, Tres and I ventured home to spend some time with the newest members of our families. His sister had a baby girl on May 1st, so she was a fresh 2 weeks old when we got to meet her, and Uncle Tres immediately fell in love with little Emmalyn. I have a feeling she's about to be very spoiled!
We also got to go to a Mother's Day brunch with his mom Saturday, and spent all of Sunday with my family. I don't know the last time that my mom had more than one of her children with her on Mother's Day, so I think she felt extra blessed that Nate, Ashley and Everett made the trip up from Bend to spend the day together. We wandered around the Rose Gardens and ate Mom's favorite, browned-butter and Mazithra cheese from the Spaghetti Factory, followed of course by a scoop of spamoni ice cream.
Before we went West, I got to spend an afternoon with Little Missy and Liz captured this picture of my reading Go. Dog, Go! with Nora, and it melts my heart every time. I love these little so much that I don't really think my heart can handle it some days- being Aunt Vickie is definitely my favorite role these days.
One of the extra blessings of timing of this trip was that I got to attend the baby shower of one of my good friends from high school, Lacy. Dillon was born in March, but since she lives in Redmond, she and her family decided to have a shower in Portland after he was born, so that everyone could meet the little man. I'm still wrapping my head around the idea that my friends are starting their own little families all over the country, but it's really fun to see them take on new roles and challenges as they embrace parenthood. (woot, woot! renewed for a new season, by the way!!) One of my very first and best friends from my childhood also had a baby a day after Lacy, and it was great to see Candace again, and meet the adorable little Giavelle. I can only hope that someday I can look as great as these new mamas a mere two months after giving birth.
It was a great trip West, and I love that we get to see our friends and families even though we love so far away these days.
