Five for Friday
Nursing...
1. I haven't had to work in a week. Thanks to a 4th of July call-off and a cancelled high needs shift, it's been seven days since I walked through the doors at Hopkins.
2. The new interns started on Sunday. So basically, they're still medical students. If you ever get to choose when to have surgery, I don't recommend July.
3. Talking about the consistency of a patient's poop, sometimes while eating lunch, is a daily occurrence. Seriously, I doubt any other profession has the same kind of table- talk as we do.
4. It only takes me 12 minutes to get ready in the morning. Never before have I been so grateful for standardized apparel.
5. In three weeks, I go back to being Camp Nurse Vickie, and hydrogen peroxide becomes my best friend, but I have to admit that I actually do use betadine in my everyday nursing life.
