Impact 2013
Each spring, Youth for Christ hosts a conference for high schoolers in the Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) area at the convention center in Ocean City, Maryland. During the summer months, Ocean City is the place to be- zillions of hotels, condos and beach houses, mini-golf courses, Candy Kitchens and places to buy sunglasses and beach towels. Practically everyone goes to OC for at least some time during the summer. I've only ever been there for this conference (and the middle school one they host in the fall.) The boardwalk is still somewhat lively, and it's a chance to see the Atlantic Ocean and the beach, even if it's too cold to try to tan my pasty body.
The conference itself is a pretty standard student ministry conference- well known bands, great speakers, breakout sessions geared toward students and leaders alike. My favorite thing about this weekend is always getting to know our students better, and the loud exciting worship is pretty great too. This year was no different. If you're looking for a Mumford-like worship band, you have to check out The Rend Collective Experiment. I'm looking for my very own stomp-fiddle because of them.
I'm grateful for the great students we have at Bay Area, and the amazing co-leaders I get to serve alongside weekly.
