Five for Friday: Coco came to town!
Last weekend, my friend from camp came to visit me and Tres- she informed me that she gets bored with blog posts easily, so I figured in honor of that, I'd recap her visit rather quickly.
1. Friday we did a quick tour of my neighborhood- which basically meant lunch at Nacho Mama's, home of some great Mexican food, a killer margarita and lots of Bmore love. Somehow I only seem to go at times when it would be inappropriate to indulge in said marg- and 11am was no different. The food was just as good as ever though. We headed to Annapolis so she could wander around the Naval Academy and get us kicked out of the chapel. We ended the night at church in a crazy dodgeball tourney with the high school students. Lord knows I love the chance to wear a neon outfit.
2. A whirlwind tour of DC filled our Saturday. Luckily the rain held off until we were safely inside for dinner, and Coco got to experience a little bit of everything- The Natural History Museum, a few monuments, shopping and a cupcake in Georgetown. Courtney and Elle Dub met up with us for dinner, and I felt spoiled to have so many friends in one place. Also, Coco can fall asleep anywhere, anytime, doing practically anything- but certainly if just sitting in a moving vehicle. Saturday she fell asleep in the car on the way to the Metro, on the Metro into DC, and on the way back. I swear I let her sleep in!
3. Church and a little duck-pin bowling. It doesn't seem like a true visit to Bmore without a trip to the bowling alley- and we had to show Coco our duckpin skills. We were joined by a few other people from our missional community, who, although being Annapolis natives, hadn't ever duckpinned themselves. We mixed up teams for each game, and unfortunately despite her great form, Coco didn't have any beginners luck.
4. Monday and Tuesday we spent relaxing, wandering around Annapolis and eating delicious food. I even convinced her to buy her first pair of TOMS, and introduced her to the joy of owning a nice leather purse. We'd been so busy that I wanted Coco to feel like she actually got to relax a bit on this vacation too, so we ate and introduced her to Pitch Perfect, which she agreed was Aca-awesome.
5. I loved having Coco in town, because even though she's younger than me, we're very similar, and I've always gotten along with her. Even back in the days of camp, we were co-conspirators on the low ropes course, equally sassy and sarcastic, and always found a way to make even the worst job fun. The things that made me like her then, are still alive and well today. She's a spitfire and life with her is never boring (unless she falls asleep while you're driving) Our similarities were evidenced by our tendency to dress similarly, as demonstrated below.
Thanks so much for visiting Coco! Come back when it's sunny and warm, and I promise we'll hit the pool :)

Almost 3 years ago during a break from camp, and last weekend at church. Apparently getting older just means your skirt gets longer. |
