"New House Fairy"
(alternate post titles: "the day I stopped being lazy and finally unpacked 3 months after moving in" or "sleep all day and this is what happens at 4am")
I have finally buckled down and decided that it's time to finish unpacking. I know what you're thinking- you moved almost THREE months ago.. what do you mean you aren't unpacked?! and I could give you a lot of different excuses.
like "I was in Oregon for almost two weeks!"
or "do you know how easy it is to leave your clothes packed when you only wear scrubs?"
or "if it's behind a closed door, it must not exist, right?"
or even "I've lived out of a suitcase for most of my life! switching houses as a kid means never fully unpacking!"
but let's be real- I'm just lazy. And spoiled. The combination of which means I've had a room full of crap that has yet to be unpacked- until this morning at about 1am when I decided today! today is the day! (Also I have family coming in t-minus 3 weeks for Little Missy's birthday, and I'd like to have a place to sleep when they get here)
These are the kinds of things that happen when you've just worked three nights back to back and "reward yourself" by sleeping until 5:30pm.
I had 48 hours between signing closing paperwork and when I had to be out of my apartment, so I literally just moved EVERYTHING from my apartment to my house. Which means I have two years worth of crap that I have to go through and find a place for here. Plus the stuff that I just moved from my dorm room to Sissy's house to my apartment without actually organizing or sorting-(clearly stuff I need since I haven't looked at it in ... 3 years.)
I've learned a lot about myself in the last six hours, mostly because of things I've found in this "treasure hunt" like:
- $30 in iTunes gift cards
- 4 laundry hampers. Apparently my solution for "more dirty clothes" was "more places to put them" not "wash them"
- Over $100 worth of clothing with the tags still on them- including but not limited to things I've purchased in the last year (ie budget worthy items that haven't been worn!)
-2 sets of sheets for sizes of beds I don't actually have
- $6.72 in in Starbucks gift cards
- An entire section of my closet devoted to "things to wear for very specific occasions" which looks strangely familiar to the "frat party" section of my college closet.
- countless old/new clothes that I literally forgot I owned
-6 miscellaneous chargers for unknown electronics
-3 bottles of unopened mouthwash
-10 pairs of tights (really holding on to those dance dreams)
-9 pairs of blue jeans (I distinctly remember a time in my life when I wished I had the money to own more than 2 pairs of jeans... now I have more than 2 pairs of colored jeans)
I'm starting to think I might actually be a hoarder.
Feel free to notice the change in daylight between these two pictures- midnight productivity at it's finest! (and I have to put together a new bookshelf before I can tackle that last tub)
